We have two fun interactions that will run through January.
First, the button will dole out tiny fortunes printed in the nineteen fifties (they're a bit chauvinist -- so there's that). The other is in preparation for Valentine's Day. Check out the picture for details.

On The first Friday of June, Chavez Gallery will have its biggest show of the year, featuring new outlandish paintings and peculiar carnival themed jewelry. But wait - there’s more! There will be carnival games! (With Prizes!) There will be a fortuneteller! Chris Mandile, The Good Morning Accordion Terrorist, will add a surreal musical ambiance to the evening. In addition, there will be carnival style treats, such as popcorn, and a few certifiable freaks of nature! Show will hang through July 2nd. |

Liese and I were honored to be a part of the 11th annual Pike's Peak Studio Tour last month. The following is a Colorado Springs Gazette write-up about it:
Colorado Springs tour invites the art-curious to step into a professional artist's studio By Jen Mulson Updated: September 19, 2014 at 10:20 am
Twenty artists in 13 locations, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, find maps online, free; info@pikespeakstudiotour.com, www.pikespeakstudiotour.com.
Here's your chance to investigate the workings of professional artists in their natural habitat. The 11th Pikes Peak Studio Tour will guide art lovers through three areas of the city - the northwest, west and central and southwest - and drop them into 13 artist studios, homes or galleries. They'll have the chance to meet 20 artists, see their works in progress, watch demonstrations and partake in refreshments. The free tour runs Saturday and Sunday, and attendees can pick and choose their route. Downloadable maps of each area are available online. "It's a really great opportunity to see the people behind the work and find out their motivations," says Rhonda Van Pelt, director of the tour. "It's a great way to get to know some really great people." Works in all media, including encaustic, jewelry, sculpture and paintings, will be for sale at varied price points, she says.
Husband and wife artists Kris and Liese Chavez will participate for the first time, throwing open the doors of their Old Colorado City gallery and studios. Kris Chavez makes enamel jewelry and Liese Chavez is a painter, a Best of the Springs winner for her work. "Talking with people about the art is part of what we do and why we opened the gallery," Liese Chavez says. "We work here all day long, making art, and we love to talk about the process and what comes up with them (visitors) about the content of the art. It seemed like a natural for us." The tour started in 2003 after friends and artists Deb Komitor, Laura Reilly and Michael Baum realized they were all holding open studios on the same weekend. They decided to organize a weekend devoted to open studios around the region, and since then 61 artists have participated in the almost yearly event.

I find it heartening that this model of Singer is called "Confidence," which I initially do not have when first sitting in front of it.

Small details. We have a receipt printer now. It prints while unplugged! It also recites poetry, folds paper cranes and makes a mean margarita. Looking forward to the margarita later.

It is official! We are opening our own brick and mortar gallery!
Over the next couple months we will be making the space our own, such as installing a sign similar to the rendering attached to this text. Stop by here occasionally to see our gallery building exploits.
